Bonjour!

Mama

Mama

(album: Feels Like Comin' Home - 1996)

Billy was a young boy
When he got his first guitar
He was dreaming about the big town
Heading out to be a star

Mama was proud to help him
She was proud to watch him play
But she didn't think Billy someday
Would turn and walk away

Sitting by the window
Waiting and hoping all the time
Billy's coming home
But he's too far gone

All she's got are memories
And his letter in her hands
He said

Mama don't care
Mama don't you cry
I'm still your little good boy
Trying to get it right
Mama don't give up
When believin's getting tough
Whatever I'll be doing, I'll be thinking
Thinking about your love

Billy's got in trouble
He's got deep down in despair
There was nobody believed in
The words he had to swear

He was too proud to make a phone call
And say Mama help me please
He just wrote another letter
He said Mama you're in my dreams

There she's sitting all alone
Still she's waiting for her little boy coming home
She feels so alone, listening to the radio
She thinks Billy is singing this song to her
He said

Mama don't care
Mama don't you cry
I'm still your little good boy
Trying to get it right
Mama don't give up
When believin's getting tough
Whatever I'll be doing, I'll be thinking
Thinking about your love

What about the love you gave all these years
You ain't got anything back
If there's a little chance to make it all undone
I'd give you the love of a son
I owe you

Mama don't care
Mama don't you cry
I'm still your little good boy
Trying to get it right
Mama don't give up
When believin's getting tough
Whatever I'll be doing, I'll be thinking
Thinking about your love

Mama don't care
Mama don't you cry
I'm still your little good boy
Trying to get it right
Mama don't give up
When believin's getting tough
Whatever I'll be doing, I'll be thinking
Thinking about your love
