Bonjour!

Know Your Tell

Know Your Tell

(album: Kodak - 2022)

Dull clarity
Dark bottom of the South
Watch as they move away
Passing through a red shift
Maybe you shouldn't go alone
Staying alive is just an easy goal
The unresolved finds its way into the front seat
You are the positive side, you are the upswing

Brighter one-off times
Man, you gotta know your tell
Applauding as they move away
Pushing through the late shift
Praying for a change is such a lazy throw
Moving your body is a lonely road

The uninformed finds their way up to the front line
Searching for the ladder you took
Pulled up behind you

I feel it settling for something well lit
It's battery it's top heavy badness
Sort of stumbling down a well worn path
Tall vowels and water in the hour glass
Looking back to where the others all go
Is it bad luck to know what they don't know
It made me think that every gravely road
Was someone waving bye to a loved one

Brighter one-off times
Man you gotta know your tell
Cracking as they mean to wave
Pushing through the late shift
Praying for a change is such a lazy throw
Moving your body is a lonely road

The underdog finds its way under the park bench
They are the heroes you find they are the action

Instead of focusing on something you're not
Take the bad thoughts, you park them and move along
Instead of thinking you've forever been docked
On the whole you are not just an only son
Pack it up on someone's company time
Get it right, or get out, or get over it
Or do you feel like something's gonna collapse
Was it always the privilege of being here

Normal a new routine
Celebrate the painful
Watch 'em as they move away
Now you are the old shit
Maybe they shouldn't be alone
Stay with the pack
Stay with what they know

The dark one curls up with you
He's here to talk you through it
Comforting now in the short term
Nobody's here for me
Did all that was asked of me
Now sundowning off to the distance
Rich with ruins for no one
A collection of typos and omens
At best just a place where you're kept

Dull clarity
Dark bottom of the South
Watch as they move away
Passing through a red shift
Maybe you shouldn't drive alone
Staying alive is such an easy goal
The unresolved finds its way into the front seat
You are the positive side, you are the upswing
