What's the sense in having all of this potential
When we're spending all our time on this essential?
Giving away all that we make

And it's nothing but a life of compromises
Good intentions interrupted by surprises
Pulling us down back to the ground

And while we're reaching for the sky
We're told it's not so high
We're far below it
Still we know we've always got to try

But when the leader
Doesn't know which way to go
How can you follow him?
Trust the process
And when the more we learn
The less we seem to know
How can you swallow it?

When the day is done and everyone is sated
We're too tired to be wired or creative
Wasting away day by day

And you know we don't expect it to be perfect
At the minimum we thought it would be worth it
Glowing with pride, owning the ride

We're going nowhere
Still it's good to know we're not alone
