There were fourteen beer cans on my kitchen table this morning when I woke up
So I warmed up a Hot Pocket, threw it in my lunch box and headed on off to work
About a mile down the road my old engine overheated
I was seven thousand miles past the oil change I needed
I hitched me a ride to the Water Hole Saloon
Cause work's overrated and the beer's past due

We had a show last night in deep East Texas
Way outta hand half the people got arrested
The owner stumbled up in his drunken rage

Hell, even Ray Wylie Hubbard wouldn't even stick around
I picked up my Bud Light I walked off the stage
We loaded up the gear but we didn't get paid
