Grandpa never sets an alarm
He's up before the moon starts sleeping
Put his pearl snap shirt and his Wranglers on
He was shuffling across the kitchen
And once a week, usually on Wednesday
He meets his buddies at the local cafe
Now and then, he lets me tag along
And I do all the listening

They don't talk about politics
Banking or religion
And it's better not to dwell on who
Is dying and not living

Seen their share of pain

His wife's been sick, but he prays all he can

When there's lives to be had and the coffee is good
