Light in the morning falling down the stairs
With so much yet to do
So I walk out the door heading to the square
Over snow blown avenues

With the cold in my lungs and my face feeling numb
My thoughts turn back to you
Asleep in my bed, dreams filling your head
In a tight warm fleece cocoon

Dark of the evening coming out to play
And the street lights want in too
So they dance the way they've done for ages
Twinkling on through

And with the work all done, feels like I've won
Some esoteric coup
Getting on the train, a smile on my face
Despite the snow inside my shoe

With a salty step and a case of strep
Plus a hankering for soup
I open up the door to where we were before
To return to what lovers do
