There was a time when I remembered everything she said
Now I barely know at all

Perhaps it's age, or the state that my mind's been in
It's so hard to tell these days
I recall a table, her cigarette held out the window
Blowing ashes on our clothes
I lost feeling in my hands

"Don't forget I want my records back..."
Stepping out of line
At the supermarket checkout counter
"Whatever happened to Paul Sand?"

"My lord these days are strange, I don't know who I am anymore"
"...And why can I never find a pay phone?"
"With my luck, I'd be kidnapped, make my escape, and get your answering machine"

"Are you paying close attention?"

Made the bed, and cut my hair today
Replaced the light above the sink
Drove myself to the grocery store
Made it back just in time for the fights
