Soon a baby's cry on that holy night would announce a new-born King

I hear my children laughing and running round the tree
With dreams so big and hopes so loud, they'll never go to sleep
I hear my newborn crying, lying in his mother's arms
And I think I know what Joseph felt on the night the Christ was born

During the night the most wonderful thing happened, baby Jesus was born
Joseph filled the manger with clean, new hay
And Mary wrapped her Son, the new-born King, in soft, white cloth, and laid Him in a manger
