I'm a Louisiana boy grown up on the Quarter
I'm used to the people and I even drink the water
Been shucking them oysters since I was just a kid
Trapping alligators like my granddad did
I moved to the city where the girls looked pretty
But now I'm back to stay
I'm a Louisiana boy with a pocket full of money
And a love for the Delta Bay

Well it used to be where everybody knew me
I was drinking liquor when I was thirteen
They called me the Cajun Kid everywhere I'd go
But when I moved away I left it all behind
With my overalls and a gator-skin tie
I swore that I'd never come back to the life I know

But the city life is just too different for me
I could live there again, but I'd just come home
